Disznókő is one of the world’s top 50 wine tourism destinations!
It is a great pleasure for us to announce that Disznókő Estate has ranked 45th in the World’s Best Vineyards competition! World’s Best Vineyards is an annual list aimed at promoting wine tourism. The list provides an insight into the best all-round winery experiences, evaluating not only the wines, but also visitor experiences.
This is the first time that a Hungarian winery has made it to the Top 50 list, serving as a testament that Disznókő Estate not only stands among the world’s premier wine producers but also delivers exceptional services, reaching the highest standards akin to the world’s most esteemed brands and ensuring exceptional quality for its guests.
The judges of World’s Best Vineyards seek the most comprehensive wine tourism experiences globally. There is no predefined list of criteria except that the winery must be open to the public. Each vote represents a nomination for a winery considered the best in the world. The experience encompasses everything related to the visit – the tour, tasting, ambiance, wine, food, staff, view, value for money, and accessibility. Anything that makes the vineyard visit valuable and rewarding for visitors, prompting them to return or recommend the visit to their friends, is taken into account.

How the Voting Works
The World’s Best Vineyards list and awards are put together by the William Reed Media Company. They gather input from about 600 global wine and travel experts who make up the World’s Best Vineyards Academy. This Academy splits the world into 22 regions, each covering multiple countries.
Each region has a jury of 36 members, made up of wine experts, writers, travel enthusiasts, and people who just love wine. Each person in this group picks 7 wineries they think are the best and then ranks them. To ensure fresh perspectives, at least quarter of the jury members are rotated annually in each region.
Announcement of Results
The announcement took place in the stunning Rioja wine region during a three-day event. Alongside tours of vineyards and roundtable discussions, the world’s best wineries showed off their wines to the media.
It is a particular delight for us that our sister estates, Château Pichon Baron and Quinta do Noval, have once again secured their place among the world’s best, ranking 33rd and 16th respectively. Moreover, three Tokaj wineries represent Hungary in the world’s Top 100 vineyards alongside us!

Visit us!
Disznókő is a leading, trendsetting winery in the Tokaj wine region, located on a contiguous 150-hectare vineyard at the southwestern entrance of the wine region.
In 2020, as one of the highest recognitions by Wine & Spirits Magazine, we were the only winery from Hungary listed in the Top 100 wineries globally. In 2017, we were awarded Hungary’s Most Beautiful Vineyard, and we also received the Winery of the Year title from the Prestige Reserve Club’s professional and media jury. Our goal is to ensure that visitors feel we strive to meet the expectations associated with these titles in the future.
Unique Experience
Visitors can explore the making of Tokaj wines from harvesting to bottling accompanied by guides fluent in English, Hungarian, French, and German. The approximately 1-1.5-hour visit, starting from the Wine Boutique behind the Yellow House Restaurant, mirrors the journey the grapes undergo on our estate until they turn into wine. The estate visit includes a walk in the vineyard, demonstration of grape processing and wine-making technology in the processing building, and a visit to the oak barrel and bottled wine cellars. The tour is complemented by a tasting of 3 or 6 wines held in the historic cellar.
