Three Exceptional New Releases from Disznókő – Wines That Make the Holidays Brighter
As the holidays approach, every glass of wine becomes something more than a drink: a shared story, a moment of comfort, an experience that brings people together. The latest releases from Disznókő embody this spirit – limited, refined wines, each revealing a different and beautiful face of Tokaj’s diversity.
Disznókő “Teraszok” Tokaji Furmint 2024

A single-barrel beauty from the hillside terraces
The Teraszok Furmint originates from the highest, terraced parcels of the historic Disznókő estate, just below the former volcanic cone of the Király-tető hill above Zombor. The loose, stony, rhyolite-based soil and the Furmint vines planted in 2005 together create a uniquely expressive character—one that often forms the most precious component of our Inspiration blend.
In 2024, one barrel stood apart at every tasting. Its clarity, fruit, and balance spoke so convincingly that it simply had to be bottled on its own. Thus, this rare, single-barrel Furmint was born: an unfiltered expression of place, captured in only one barrel’s worth.
Whole-cluster pressing, fermentation in a new Hungarian oak barrel, and six months of gentle ageing impart a deep-toned greenish-yellow hue. The aromas open with ripe pear and fine spice, delicately framed by oak. On the palate, it is full and harmonious, with lively yet rounded acidity, a soft texture, and a ripe, gentle character. A whisper of natural sweetness lifts the otherwise dry finish.
Pure, elegant, and profound—this Furmint brings the minerality of the terraces and the serene harmony of the 2024 vintage into perfect focus—a wine made for thoughtful holiday evenings.
Disznókő Tokaji Fordítás 2023

A rare tradition bottled for the very first time
Fordítás is one of Tokaj’s unique, historic winemaking methods: after the first pressing of the aszú berries soaked in must or base wine, a new portion of base wine is poured over the already macerated berries. After another soaking period, the berries are pressed again, and the wine is fermented. The result preserves the richness of aszú, but with a firmer structure and a drier, more defined character.
Though we have made Fordítás at Disznókő for years, it has always remained a blending component. But 2023 was a remarkable aszú year—intense botrytis, vibrant acidity, and exceptional concentration. From this year came a Fordítás we fell in love with instantly—and decided to bottle it separately. Crafted from 100% Furmint, only 900 bottles were produced.
Its color is deeper than a classic aszú, tending toward rich gold. Aromas of apricot jam, dried fruits, almond, and subtle leafy-spicy notes unfold in layers. The palate is full, structured, and gently tannic, with refined tones of vanilla and elegant spice. It tastes as though the opulence of a five-puttonyos aszú meets a more sculpted, drier frame. A rare expression of Tokaj’s heritage—perfect for a festive table set with winter flavors.
Disznókő Tokaji Aszú Hárslevelű 2022

The delicate magic of Hárslevelű in an exceptional aszú
Hárslevelű seldom produces ideal aszú berries; its looser clusters and thicker skins make botrytisation less specific. But 2022 offered a rare gift. A warm, dry September followed by a rainy October created perfect conditions for botrytis—even on Hárslevelű. From these beautifully shrivelled berries came an aszú that charmed us from the very first tasting.
We soaked the berries in Hárslevelű base wine, and the resulting wine proved among the most aromatic, expressive, and striking of the vintage. After two years of barrel ageing, it became clear: this wine deserved its own bottle.
Brilliant greenish-gold in the glass, it reveals aromas of dried flowers, herbal tea, elderflower, and tropical fruits—especially lychee. The palate is soft and creamy, with subtle oak and vibrant, fresh aromatics. A rare moment when Hárslevelű gives a perfect aszú—and Disznókő has captured it with remarkable purity.
Holiday wines made for sharing
These three new releases from Disznókő bring the depth and radiance of Tokaj to the festive season. They are wines to open with people we cherish—or to save for a moment when time slows, conversation deepens, and the year’s most meaningful memories take shape.
