World-Class in Tokaj: A Top 100 Visitor Experience at Disznókő
Set at the gateway to the Tokaj Wine Region at the southeasternmost point of the Tokaj hills, the Disznókő Estate is one single estate of 150 hectares. Classified First Growth in 1732 by royal decree, it was always the property of influential Hungarian families who took great pride in their vineyard and wines. After the acquisition of the estate by AXA Millésimes in 1992, the vineyard was extensively replanted and spectacular wine making facilities constructed, reflecting the renaissance of the great Tokaji wines of which Disznókő is at the forefront.
Quality, awards and recognitions
Known for its commitment to quality, Disznókő Vineyard won the awards for Hungary’s Most Beautiful Vineyard and Winery of the Year, and was also included in the prestigious World’s Best Vineyards Top 100 list for two consecutive years – currently 67th. In 2020, we were the only Hungarian winery to be included in Wine & Spirits Magazine’s Top 100 Wineries of the World selection. This double recognition reinforces our belief that the quality of our wines and the guest experience we provide are outstanding on an international level.

Gastronomy: Sárga Borház Restaurant
The 19th-century, Neoclassical “Yellow Wine House”, the most beautiful former press house of the region, is a today leading restaurant, a popular meeting place with locals.
You can soak up the atmosphere of the terrace that offers both sun and shade (from majestic chestnut trees) with a glass of Tokaji wine, a light snack or an excellent meal, typical Hungarian cooking with a contemporary twist. Inside you can choose from the air of a French restaurant or the other elegant, more relaxed saloon. If you need a private area, you can hold your seminar, conference or wedding reception in the gracious balconied function room upstairs.
To experience the flavours of Tokaj we have created tasting menus harmonised with the wines of Disznókő and other famous wines from the region. Head chef Gábor Soltész designs a special seasonal menu using fresh and local products.
Tokaj-Hegyalja Market – Artisan Market every second sunday on the Disznókő Estate
The Tokaj-Hegyalja Market is a gathering of over 60 local craftsmen and women who bring their handmade products: cheese and meats, jams and honeys, vinegars and oils, (organic) fruits and vegetables, spelt flour and pillows, chocolates and bakery goods… as well as pottery, soap, wooden toys, jewellery, clothes – and lots more. Always with live music, exhibitions, talks, market menu and – we are in the Tokaj Wine Region – wine tastings.
If you are looking for a place where history, nature, wine, and gastronomy come together in perfect harmony, then the Disznókő Vineyard is a must-see destination. Here, wine is truly an experience, and every sip is a reimagined celebration of Tokaj traditions.
