Disznókő Triumphs at the Decanter World Wine Awards: Seven Medals for Our Exceptional Wines!
We are thrilled to announce that Disznókő wines have secured an impressive haul of seven medals at this year’s Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA), one of the most prestigious wine competitions globally! Our wines were awarded two gold, four silver, and one bronze medal, showcasing the excellence and craftsmanship of our winemaking.
Celebrating Excellence: The Decanter World Wine Awards
The Decanter World Wine Awards, now in its 21st year, is renowned as the world’s largest wine competition. This year’s event saw a record-breaking 18,143 entries from 57 countries. A panel of 250 esteemed judges, including Masters of Wine and Master Sommeliers, meticulously evaluated each wine.
Only wines scoring above 95 points, distinguished by their exceptional quality and memorability, received gold medals. Hungarian wineries performed remarkably well, bringing home 13 gold medals, affirming the country’s growing reputation in the international wine arena.
Disznókő’s Stellar Performance
We are incredibly proud that Disznókő emerged as one of the most successful Hungarian wineries at the competition, winning two gold, four silver, and one bronze medal. This achievement reflects our dedication to producing wines of the highest caliber.
Our Gold Medal Wines

We are delighted to share that the gold medals were awarded to wines from our Hattyús brand.
- Hattyús Tokaji Édes Szamorodni 2018 – 95 points and „Value Wines” category: Recognized for its excellent price-to-quality ratio, this wine was lauded by the judges for its „A parade of candied pineapple, apricot jam and quince with a piercing nip of ginger. Lavishly sweet with an engaging cashew nut complexity and lemon zest acidity.”
- Hattyús 5 Puttonyos Tokaji Aszú 2019 – 95 points: Described as „Mellow apricot preserve, lemon curd and vanilla spice billow and thrive in a blanket of caramel sweetness with an intoxicating freshness and cleansing acidity to boot!„

In addition to the Hattyús Tokaji Édes Szamorodni 2020, our sister brand Sárga Borház also earned multiple silver medals for its fresh releases:
- Hattyús Tokaji Édes Szamorodni 2020 – „Delicious waxy, honeyed and flowery nose with lemon and orange zest aromas. Harmonious acidity and sweetness, very long finish.„
- Sárga Borház 5 Puttonyos Tokaji Aszú 2020 – „Orange peal marmalade with ginger nuances, followed by peaches, poached pear and honey on the nose. Sweet and fresh, very classic.„
- Sárga Borház 6 Puttonyos Tokaji Aszú 2019 – „Rich on the nose, with notes of caramel, beeswax, golden apple, hay, apricots, acacia honey and meadow flowers. Very appealing palate.„
- Disznókő 5 Puttonyos Tokaji Aszú 2014 – „Intense aromas of baked orange peal, apricot preserve, candied ginger, honeysuckle and a touch of pyrethrum. Sweet and mature.”
Bronze Medal Recognition
Our Sárga Borház 2020 Tokaji Édes Szamorodni described as „Aromas of dried apricots with orange pith and barley sugar. Silky and luscious on the palate” gainded a bronze medal, which is a further testament to the consistent quality across our portfolio.
